Ali Affleck, Brian Kellock, Enrico Tomasso
Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, James P Johnson, Oscar Peterson, Louis Armstrong, and King Oliver will all be in the room tonight, as three swing greats get together for a night that celebrates classic jazz – the music that took us from New Orleans through Chicago to Harlem and 42nd Street, New York. Vocalist, Ali Affleck has emerged as a supreme exponent of classic jazz singing. She loves the earliest jug band and New Orleans styles, but she’ll also convince as Ella duetting with Tomasso’s brilliant Louis vocals. Tomasso is the ultimate Armstrong trumpeter too, but he’s adept across all the early jazz styles. Brian Kellock is, of course, the giant of the Scottish jazz scene. A pianist who can play anything, but just loves these informal get togethers of swinging jazz musicians having fun, making audiences feel good…
